In the "Kolionovo" farm near Moscow, an experiment was conducted during the year to pay pensions in cryptocurrency. The organizer of the project, farmer Mikhail Shlyapnikov, wrote about it on his Facebook page.
The experiment was held locally on several accounts of participants outside the current legal field of Russia and without affecting the modern pension system. The tokens used were Kolion (KLN), which are backed by:
The production of the farm: seedlings of trees, milk, meat, eggs, fish, vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, and berries;
Services including organization of tourist recreation with fishing, mushroom picking, baths, and training seminars.
One Kolion costs slightly less than $1 and the rate is updated daily on the project website. It can be traded for BTC and other coins. The total volume of tokens issued by the Kolionovo project from April 2017 will be one million. The ICO was conducted on the Waves platform with the participation of the blockchain services of Emercoin.
Initially, there was the idea of an unconditional basic income, spoken of in Europe and Canada. But the farmers decided to apply a voluntary accrual in the "gray" zone for an additional pension.
The experiment started in June of last year. Several WAVES crypto wallets with temporary lockups were created for several farmers of the Kolionovo farm and selected third parties. There, KLN and dividends were paid monthly in KolionPlus individually for each employee with a maximum equivalent of $400. Each month, the coins were converted into popular cryptocurrencies such as BTC, BCH, LTC, ETH, DASH, WAVES, and 25 percent of the savings remained in internal coins as two kinds of Kolion.
During this time, one-time premiums were added to crypto wallets. In the blockchain system, each participant can see the balance and operations on his "pension account” at any time. It will be possible to dispose of the funds after the transfer of a flash drive with a password when the employee is fired, by special arrangement, or when retiring. Each farmer will be able to choose the age of completion of his work experience. And this is especially favorable after the official statement on raising the retirement age.
Kolions are not stored in a proverbial Davy Jones’ locker and they can be withdrawn early, for example, for medical treatment and education, as they are on the nodes of the network of blockchains of the farm. Mikhail Shlyapnikov talks about an expensive operation in one of the best Moscow clinics on his Facebook page, where a foreign worker had a tumor removed.
Initially, the peasant economy wanted to issue its banknotes, but stopped at the cryptocurrency level because the prosecutor's office accused the domestic currency of confusing the population during the crisis and possibly undermining the economic foundations of the state.
Kolions can be used to buy farm products. They are used as a prepayment for the subsequent receipt of farm goods or the equivalent of bartering with neighboring villages.
"Kolion was first put into circulation in July 2014 as a local unit of the Kolionovo district. It is backed by our products and the cryptocurrency collected at the IPO in 2016 and the ICO in 2017. Before the end of 2018, we plan to launch Kolion v.5.0," as said to DeCenter by the ideologist of the autonomous economy Mikhail Shlyapnikov. Kolion, unlike 1,600 other cryptocurrencies, has a unique form of collateral and cannot be depreciated. Technical issues related to storage, conversion to top coins and fiat, encryption, hedging, and others, are all resolved at the level of advanced world developments, including our own software products and financial models."
The UniMarket business solution is used for the Kolion project. Shlyapnikov is categorically against scam projects. He stands for longterm transparent cooperation. When suspicious activity is detected, the transaction is frozen until the reasons are clarified. The rate of the token in this system is tied to the deposit, so it does not fluctuate like many cryptocurrencies. The network infrastructure of the UniMarket blockchain system consists of many computers with a server in the cloud of Amazon EC2, computers, bots, and other systems. The decision itself not only balances the deposits of users' portfolios, but also acts as a tracker fund, which tracks indexes on stock exchanges and allows the increasing of its accumulations. UniBot deals with portfolio diversification.
For more than a year now, there has been a crypto ATM in the peasant economy of Kolionovo for the exchange of rubles for cryptocurrencies, including Kolion.
There is no need for offices, a large number of employees, post offices, and banks. Labor books under the system are proposed and tested by the farmer. As an example, Michael speaks of the alpine villages that live in a subsistence economy.
Of course, the topic of paying pensions using cryptocurrencies could not remain without the reaction of economists. Yevgeny Kogan, president of the investment group "Moscow Partners,” is skeptical of this idea, which he said in a commentary for our publication. "Pensions should be guaranteed and reliable. They cannot be doubted, or become an experiment. Crypto wallets and cryptocurrencies are something new. They will develop or wither away, no one knows. Pensions are for real people and their fates. Is it possible to experiment with the fates of older people? People placed their hopes on a new toy. And their lives have been broken. Until cryptocurrencies become an ultra-reliable tool, they cannot be used."
Mikhail Shlyapnikov on his page in the social network answers the opponents of pensions in cryptocurrencies and gives the following arguments:
The project is conducted in the local crypto sandbox at its own expense, so it cannot harm anyone globally.
This is a real example of the use of blockchain technology in agriculture.
Partner sites are used when converting, diversifying, and trading. And for the whole year from June 2017 to June 2018, only $10 was spent on commissions.
No one, neither the state nor insurance companies, can guarantee the payment of pensions by 100 percent. Nobody knows what will happen in 10 to 15 years with the economy of the country and the world as a whole.
In peasant economy, "no gold is needed when a simple product is available." And people will always need to eat.
More than 10 years ago, Mikhail Shlyapnikov left for the village from Moscow and successfully engaged in subsistence farming. The history of virtual money began with crypto units, the rate of which was tied to Emercoin, and then there were crypto futures. After that came the Kolions. The farmer does not plan to scale his idea, carry out global reforms, or sell franchises. He wants to do without financial intermediaries and at the same time make all transactions transparent and accessible to the tax authorities.
